November 2006

I tend to work on our HOA site in fits and spurts. I know there are lots of things which are still not finished but gradually I think it’s coming back together.

I’m really liking how the new forum system works, both from an admin side and from the visitors side. Be sure to take a look at them. Stop in read through the messages, post your own. Have fun with it.

Till next time

I need help…

On what should go on the front page….

When someone visits our site for the first time, what should be on the front page?  Right now posts (what you’re reading) are being put up in chronolgical order with the most recent showing up first.

(In my mind at least) it seems like we should have a fairly static front page… What should go on it?  I’m not verbalizing this very well…  Respond in the comments if you have any ideas, or if you need clarification on what I’m asking for.

An update and a summary

Lets start with THE SUMMARY in case you don’t want to read through everything in the previous posts.

The website ran into some serious issues regarding spammers.  Due to a number of reasons I’ve switched over to another system to maintain the site.  But the biggest reason it to control the spammers.  This new system however wasn’t specifically designed for what I’ve got it doing so putting the site back together has taken a little longer than I anticipated.

And here’s THE UPDATE

I’ve switched out the forum software.  I liked it because it allowed for a hiearchy of categories, but it was a little buggy and wasn’t being supported.  So I’ve gone to my second choice… which is being supported but doesn’t support hiearchies…  Thems the breaks.  I think I can say that the site is ready to go…  I still need to flesh out the advertiser stuff, but I think I’ve got everything in place that is mandatory..
